Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
