Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve final poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus frequently buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I think television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
