Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

July 25th, 2020 by Zane Leave a reply »

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve final table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest gamblers in the world. While competing in online poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players anywhere in the world may be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and hold’em. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
