Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others destroy his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a regular basis.
